BILL AND TED’s Mentor Rufus Gets a Most Excellent Action Figure!

Before everybody on these shores knew what Doctor Who was, our hearts were warmed by another eccentric fellow in unusual attire who traveled through time in a phone box. His name was Rufus, and he was somewhat uncharacteristically played by George Carlin, a profane comic turned family friendly star. As mentor to the affably moronic Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan, he turned two air-guitarists into a band who would bring about world peace through rock and roll. Frankly we could use a guy like that right about now, but alas, Carlin is no longer with us.

You might feel like he is, though, with this 8-inch action figure from NECA, which we’re pretty sure is the first fully articulated, realistic toy of the man. The company revealed retro-style figures of the Wyld Stallyns themselves back at Toy Fair; Rufus is now set to join them, but he’ll only be available with the purchase of a new Blu-ray set from Shout Factory. “Bill & Ted’s Most Excellent Collection” will include the Blu-ray debut of Bogus Journey, plus a disc full of extras both new and old, and a guitar pick. If you’re a fan, you’ll already want it; the addition of Rufus just makes things a little sweeter.

Like Ted, though, you’ll want to keep your eye on the time. The set with Rufus is limited to 1,500 pieces, and needs to be ordered directly from Shout Factory. Station!

Are you ready to party on with Rufus? Or maybe be excellent to each other by buying a few as gifts? Leave us a comment below, even if it’s just to say SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!
