Beware! The International Trailer for PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES is Here

It’s early 19th Century England, and a chilling yell is heard during dinner. What ever could it be? Well, in the bizarro mashup world of author Seth Grahame-Smith, it’s zombies, and they’re everywhere, and they don’t care about your dinner etiquette. The new international trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies details the 2009 bestseller based, obviously, on Jane Austen’s 1813 novel.

The Bennet family of five unmarried daughters, plus Mr. (Charles Dance) and Mrs. (Sally Phillips) Bennet, won’t back down without a fight against the undead hordes dominating the countrysides and cities. But unlike typical zombie scenarios like The Walking Dead or Resident Evil series, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies relies on the beloved narrative of Austen’s novel while subtly including the zombie disturbances in the mix.

In this international trailer, much like the previous released trailer, we catch a better glimpse at the iconic relationship between the tomboy sister, Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James), and the mysterious Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley). Elizabeth is a normal country girl, more terrified of relinquishing her sword for a ring than the zombies she’s slashed to pieces. She’s of course plagued by suitors as well as the undead, such as awkward little Mr. Collins played by Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith. And we also get to gawk at the formidable and strict Lady Catherine de Bourgh in action, played by our favorite queen of Westros, Lena Headey.

With daggers hidden under their dainty empire-waisted dresses — with rather exposed, plunging 20th Century necklines, I must add — the five Bennet sisters are less likely to faint in the face of terror and would fight to protect their family and friends. And the same 19th Century issues of matrimony, society, and morality are still heavy themes for Grahame-Smith’s world.

Join the Bennets in their fight against zombie hordes of the bloody English countryside next year on Feburary 5.
