Itâs been nearly a year since Breaking Bad left that gaping hole in our hearts with the best series finale since The Sopranos, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel when AMC announced the series would be followed by a prequel starring everyoneâs favorite corrupt lawyer, Saul Goodman, titled Better Call Saul. Thus far, all weâve known is the series â written by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould â has been ordered for a ten episode first season and is set to premiere later this year, but it seems thatâs no longer the case.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC has pulled a Netflix with the Breaking Bad prequel and already renewed it for a second, 13 episode season. However, with the celebration of a renewal also comes the news that the network has decided to push Better Call Saulâs series premiere from November 2014 to the first quarter of 2015. The series will now share a night with the second half of The Walking Deadâs next season, and the same will be done in 2016 should the zombie drama be renewed (letâs be honest, it will).
While itâs sad to hear Better Call Saul is being delayed, it does mean AMCâs giving the creative team ample time to get the series right, and thatâs a hard thing to come by in Hollywood. Also, now we can watch the series knowing it isnât in constant danger of cancelation, and thatâs nice too.
Oh, and thereâs a new image from the set. SQUEE!

I am just excited for the whole thing. The bleak humor was one of the tings that drew me to Breaking bad in the first place
A Breaking Bad spin-off represents some mighty big shoes to fill. If they need extra time to get it right, I’m good with that decision (and pretty stoked that season 2 is already greenlit!)
I agree with Rob,The Sopranos finale sucked.
Seriously? “Best series finale since The Sopranos?” Get bent. Thats a huge insult to Breaking Bad.
