It looks like making more Fallout 4 Pip-Boys just isn’t possible. Fallout 4‘s Pip-Boy Edition is arguably the most demanded video game collector’s bundle of the year, so much so that Bethesda has gone on record saying that they cannot produce any more. While speaking with Gamespot during QuakeCon this past weekend, Bethesda’s Pete Hines weighed in on what the Pip-Boy situation is looking like from his team’s end.
“We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make’,” Hines explained.
“We’d go back to [the factories] and say, ‘Demand for this is insane, we’ve got to make more,'” Hines said. “And they’d move other projects off or shift stuff to other factories and it just came to [them telling Bethesda], ‘Final answer: sorry, this is as many as we can make.'”
Hines did stress that every Pip-Boy unitâ including the units being currently producedâ is already accounted for by customers who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition. So if you already dropped some cash on the CE version of the game, it should be smooth sailing down the river to Pip-Boy-Island. He also went on to say that he believes this is the most of an item that they’ve ever produced for a collector’s edition. This thing is going to be selling for amiibo prices on Ebay.
Did you pre-order the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition? If not, are you going to resort to alternative means (eBay, Craigslist) of scoring one? Take your thoughts on a post-apocalyptic trek down to the comments below.
