You’re going to need an awful lot of quarters if you want to literally wear your Pac-Man love on your sleeve.
For a cool 1,900,000 yen (approximately $15,480.46 USD), you can waka waka walk away with an officially licensed “Pacman Level II 40 Colours” watch from Romain Jerome. The Swiss company is a purveyor of fine luxury watches, but they’re really focusing on exclusivity this time around; in fact, only 20 of the video game-inspired time pieces will be available worldwide. To make it even more challenging for potential customers, the watch can’t be ordered online. Rather, you must buy it in person from a list of pre-approved retailers. Hint: that weird guy Derek who always has watches taped to the inside of his trenchcoat isn’t one of them.
In case you’re a gearhead or Sylar from Heroes, here’s the official description from Romain Jerome’s site:
“46mm. Black PVD-coated titanium case. Grainy-textured stellar-patterned back with Pac-Man medallion. Black 3D dial. Pixelated PAC-MAN characters and strawberries lacquered with different colours. Black rubber with grainy-textured interior of stellar-patterned strap.”
Ooh la la, right? In addition to Pac-Man, Romain Jerome also has a collection of watches inspired by Batman, Space Invaders, and Back to the Future. And yes, you’d likely have to be as rich as Bruce Wayne if you wanted to buy them all.
What other classic video game franchises deserved to be turned into absurdly overpriced luxury watches? Let us know in the comments below.
