Fast 8

Furious 7

Is it possible that, despite his tragic death, the late Paul Walker’s Fast & Furious character Brian O’Conner could somehow figure into the next film in the Universal franchise? In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Walker’s brother Caleb indicated that such a thing might indeed be in the works. “I had a phone call with Vin [Diesel] for about an hour,” he says, “and we really discussed this a while back. He wanted [our] blessing.”

Diesel apparently asked if it would be “acceptable to maybe bring Paul’s character back [in Fast 8]… to really kind of let his fans know he’s still out there.” What do you think—should they bring the character back in Fast 8 to keep Walker’s spirit alive, or retire Brian as a tribute to the actor?

While Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is a welcome screen presence, I for one am holding out hope for the return of Rebecca Ferguson’s former British operative Ilsa Faust, the best character the franchise has yet given us.
