BEETLEJUICE Lydia Deetz Cupcakes

Lydia Deetz, fashion icon. In Tim Burton’s cult classic Beetlejuice, Lydia Deetz was everyone’s favorite goth girl. Clad in black with the most outlandish hairstyles, Lydia has inspired decades of geek girls to fashion their black clothing into everyday witch-wear.

The late ’80s cartoon version of Beetlejuice took Lydia’s now-iconic looks from the movie version and made them even more whimsical and lively for her exploration into The Netherworld.

Translating the cartoon version of Lydia into a cupcake is quick and easy with bright lavender frosting eye shadow and her trademark hairstyle created out of black fondant. Place the cupcakes into little Beetlejuice-esque black and white baking cups and her ensemble is complete. Say it out loud three times and this Nerdoween treat may just appear before your eyes! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

Beetlejuice Lydia Cupcake recipe

Beetlejuice Cartoon Lydia Deetz Cupcakes
-makes 12 cupcakes*

Ingredients:
– 12 baked cupcakes
– vanilla frosting
– black fondant
– 24 white candy melt disks
– pink icing
– lavender icing
– black icing
– 24 pink heart sprinkles

Frost cupcakes with vanilla frosting, smoothing out to a flat topped surface.

Roll out the black fondant and cut out hair shapes that look similar to a small fountain, about 1-½ inches in length. Let dry out slightly, then place into the frosting at the top of the cupcake.

With the lavender icing and a #4 tip, pipe the eyeshadow area in half circles on the upper third of the cupcake. Add a small amount of lavendar and pink icing at the base of the fondant hairstyle to add color for the hair tie.

Using a #7 tip and black icing, pipe the bangs of the hair at the top of the cupcake slightly overlapping the eyeshadow.

For the eyes, with a #2 tip and pink icing pipe a half circle on each of the candy melts for the eyelids. Add a small dot of black icing with a #2 tip for the pupil.

Place the candy melts over the lavender eye shadow area and add a pink heart sprinkle for the mouth.

Place into black and white baking cups to serve.
