BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Human Characters Revealed in New Posters

Dear everyone who’s excited about the live-action Beauty and the Beast: there’s something there that wasn’t there before. That something is fancy-schmancy new character posters for the film hitting theaters on March 17. Disney’s released a stack of images showing off characters we’ve seen in trailers and promos so far, such as the Beast and Belle. But! These posters also show us human versions of Cogsworth, Cadenza, Mrs. Potts, and other servants in Beast’s castle. We’ve only seen a glimpse of these images in a movie theater display. These posters give us a better look, plus, they include Dan Stevens as the Prince.

I was impressed by the costume design before seeing these posters, and now I’m convinced costume designer Jacqueline Durran is killing it. She’s bringing a fairy tale, yet not over the top aesthetic to the ensembles..

Anyway! Characters! In the animated film, the servants are only human for a short amount of screen time. They transform after Belle breaks the curse (I know, spoilers). I hope we get more face time with them in the live-action film because the cast is too fantastic not to see more of them. I mean, look at Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts! I can’t imagine a better person to play the most nurturing teapot in the world.

If you’d like to see motion versions of these posters–and I recommend doing so–Disney has a whole playlist on YouTube. Start with Cogsworth:

Don’t forget to pay a visit to the gallery below to see Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and everyone else.

Do the human versions of the Beauty and the Beast characters fit what you pictured? Dance on down to the comments (in a yellow ball gown if you have one) and tell me your impressions.
