Happy Summertime, Nerdlings!
So, by now, the weather is supposed to be getting nicer, and thus our seasonal depression should be pretty much gone by now! Hopefully.
One ingredient that helps our acclimation (besides Comic-Con) is this season’s smorgasbord of music. Believe it or not, I’ve been having some trouble recommending any of the new releases this month. Honestly, nothing’s really tickled my fancy. UNTILâ¦
A friend of mine sent me a “Summer Mix” that one of his buddies put together. It’s positively perfection. The compilation’s author is “Nate LC” who properly titles his mix: Beachland. It’s a very thoughtful, 25 song selection, combining pop, hip hop, revival soul and even “3 teaspoons of ocean sounds.”
This mix should be shared with the world, as it kicked off my summer with a smile and a desire to barbecue on the beach with a margarita next to some fireworks during a parade. Artists include Panda Bear, Raphael Saadiq, Architecture In Helsinki, Darwin Deez, Childish Gambino, GROUPLOVE and many, many more.
Check out some of Nate LC’s other mixes, it looks like he publishes them every couple of months, and the others are equally weather, mood, and seasonally appropriate!
If an old school Nordic speed-metal head like me can groove to these tunes, then anyone can. I’m super-enjoying this mix, and can’t wait to bring it to a BBQ this summer.
Thanx for the tip, Becca!
Thanks for this. It cheered me the hell up.
Hey, does anyone remember Limp Bizkit? Rap-rock suuuuuucked.
