Luckily, you’ve clicked into a spoiler free safe haven here on Nerdist (assuming you stay away from the comment section), and we even have a spoiler free review of the movie up for your reading pleasure. But alas, let’s get to the matter at hand; serving up a replenishing helping of video game intel. In today’s Gaming Daily: Kojima Productions‘ first game will launch on PC, Bayonetta joins the cast of Super Smash Bros., Valve is struggling to tame CS:GO backlash, Ark: Survival Evolved is coming to the Xbox One, and more.

Hideo Kojima’s next game will be on PC

While everyone was throwing shade at Konami for preventing Hideo Kojima from accepting an award, he was busy planning his next move: starting his own development studio. After formulating said studio, Kojima swiftly moved on to his first big post-Konami endeavor: a PlayStation partnership. But, contrary to popular belief, Kojima’s next title is only a console exclusivity deal, meaning that the game will more than likely be launching on the PC as well.

When asked what non-PS4 platforms the game will be on, Kojima Productions replied, “The title is planned to become available on PC (after PS4).” They then declined to comment on the games’ exclusivity window with the usual “not disclosing details” reply. It’ll be a while before we hear anything else about this, given that the contract officially went through yesterday. Let’s cross our fingers for a concept or teaser trailer at E3 2017.

Bayonetta enters the fight?

The concluding Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct proved to be an exciting one for Platinum Games fans. Bayonetta will be the newest addition to the Super Smash Bros. roster, after winning the popular vote of Nintendo’s European region and being the number five most sought after character in North America. She’ll join the ranks of Final Fantasy VII‘s Cloud Strife and Fire Emblem‘s Corrin, as the final DLC characters for the game. All three characters have amiibo figures currently in production, and Cloud Strife is available for download right now. No release date was given on when to expect the other two.

Over the year the game has been out, Nintendo has concocted the most robust cast that the series has had to date with their DLC. They previously added in Street Fighter‘s poster boy Ryu, and have also announced a slew of new Mii costumes themed around various properties such as Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy VII, and Sonic the Hedgehog. I’ve got to be honest– I’m a little disappointed that Metal Gear Solids‘s Snake wasn’t chosen to make a return (he was bad ass in Brawl), and a little scared that Bayonetta will be an overpowered character (she destroyed Anarchy Reigns‘ online community by being too strong). That said, I’m ready for that dream match between Samus and Bayonetta!

CS

CS:GO struggles to get it right

The CS:GO community has been straight mayhem since the game’s Winter update went live last week. The newly added R8 Revolver–a hand canon with the range and stopping power of a sniper rifle, and a secondary firing option that is more powerful than a shotgun–has rendered every other firearm in the game obsolete. As you can imagine, the player base has not taken a liking to this, spamming every Valve channel with complaints to nerf the gun.

A recent update Valve implemented took care of R8 Revolver issue, but in turn, created an entirely different issue: drastic changes to rifle accuracy have unnecessarily affected players who burst-fire their weapons. Valve summed up the new wave of complaints with the following statement:

“Our implementation failed,” they stated on their blog. “Since we likely changed too much too quickly, in today’s update we’re rolling back both the rifle and pistol adjustments to their pre-Winter Update state.”

Valve seems to be well aware of the mistakes they’ve made, though they seemed a bit smug about claiming that they didn’t anticipate fan reaction. A game like Counter-Strike–which has held a core set of rules for almost two decades–can’t be changed as drastically as Valve’s recent efforts without there being a little bit of outcry. Come on, they had to at least think about this.

ARK

Ark: Survival Evolved Comes to Xbox One

Studio Wildcard is bringing Ark: Survival Evolved to the Xbox One. The survival game–based in prehistoric times–is available on the platform, and with a brand new two player co-op mode.

This probably sounds amazing to anyone who’s played the game on PC, however, there is one caveat: splitscreen co-op only works locally, so the feature is not available for online play. Also, the co-op won’t be ready when the game launches tomorrow, but will come via update, some time in early 2016. So, the prospect of couch co-op does come with it’s highs and lows, but Ark is a phenomenal game, and is sure to be fun with or without the online element.
