A BATWOMAN TV Series Is Coming to The CW

With an already impressive lineup of DC Comics Arrowverse television series, you might not think there’s room for another caped crusader at The CW. But there’s always room for more heroes. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Kane, a.k.a. Batwoman, is getting her own TV series, set to follow her crossover debut this winter.

Of all the members of the Bat-family, Batwoman is probably the most similar to Batman. Not only was she originally introduced as a wealthy socialite, but she’s also a fantastic detective with extensive combat training. Kate is also willing to do whatever it takes to make sure justice is served, even at the expense of her own personal relationships, which sounds like the kind of drama that will fit right into the Arrowverse.

When Batwoman returned to the DC Comics comic book universe following the New 52 relaunch, she was introduced as a gay character, and the TV series is embracing that identity. The CW’s Batwoman is “an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence,” described The Hollywood Reporter, hinting that the series will take place in Gotham City.

Kate Kane has never been seen on any screen, big or small, so her introduction this winter on The CW will be a landmark for the character. If the script makes it to a full TV series, it will join Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning in a DC universe that might be on a small screen but big on action, adventure, and drama.

Do you think Batwoman will fit into the Arrowverse? Tell us in the comments.
