9:00 p.m. The Good Wife
10:00 p.m. CSI / CSI:Cyber (midseason)

As far as dynamic schedule modifications go, this is one of the boldest, and it all stems from CBS’ Thursdays being completely dominated by the NFL in the fall. Due to the gap in programming, the network had to move many shows to new nights to allow the ratings juggernaut of football to do its thing.

Some may wonder where Battle Creek, the new series from Breaking Bad and House creators Vince Gilligan and David Shore, isn’t on the schedule. At the moment, it seems the series – whose pilot was directed by X-Men: Days of Future Past’s Bryan Singer – will be held until the mid-season. This a good thing, since it will most likely lead to a non-stop season completely devoid of repeat episodes (or at least, close to non-stop). The network’s three other high profile newcomers, Nick Santora’s Scorpion, Kevin Williamson’s Stalker and Tea Leoni’s Madame Secretary, were not held over and will make their debuts in the fall — all on key nights of the schedule, including Monday, Wednesday and Sunday.

In another bold move, the NCIS train has now been broken up to allow room for new spin-off NCIS: New Orleans while leaving fan favorite Person of Interest in its current home of Tuesday at 10 p.m. The NCIS Tuesday block will now run with NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans from 8-10 p.m. with NCIS: Los Angeles moving to Mondays at 10 p.m. following new series, Scorpion.

One of the more interesting nights for the network will be Sunday. It looks like CBS has decided to keep their other fan-favorite, The Good Wife, at 9 p.m. and use it to anchor a night that includes new drama Madame Secretary and long standing series CSI. Later in the season, the latest drama in the Bruckheimer franchise, CSI: Cyber, will be added to that Sunday night line-up.

CBS has also announced that the upcoming season of Two and a Half Men would be the series’ last and that, like How I Met Your Mother, Chuck Lorre is planning a “season-long finale event.”

So, I may be a gigantic idiot, but will the Big Bang Theory be new after football? Kind of late to air a new episode?
