After months of casting announcements, suit reveals, rumors and speculation, principle photography finally begins today in Detroit on Warner Brosâ Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs Superman. Well, that was the case until this morning, when Variety has confirmed that’s no longer the title of the upcoming superhero film.
According to reports, the new film will now be officially titled Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, pretty much summing up the most pressing question weâve had about the film: is it really a Justice League movie in disguise?
With Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg all confirmed to be appearing, the pressing question now is how the film will sustain them all. In the end, they may not have equal screen-time, but this will certainly set the state for a Justice League movie thatâs confirmed to be in development at the studio, with rumors currently putting release sometime around 2017/2018. Other rumors have speculated this film and the future Justice League film will shoot back-to-back, thus explaining the sudden release date push by the studio from 2015 to 2016.
The amazing thing is we now live in a world where Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo all exist in real, production underway films. As nerds, how can we help to do anything but celebrate at that fact? You try not to smile realizing that in a time span of 12-months, a whole lotta awesomeness is going to be hitting theaters.
Like the new title? Let us know below.

Not true. As a nerd, I need a Boba Fett stand alone film!
I hope Superman punches Batman in his smug face because Gigli fucking sucked.
LOL…The dark knight will shock you pretty good then…
I’m actually not happy with this direction for multiple reasons. First, if Wonder Woman and Cyborg are being featured in it as well, then why is it just not The Justice League at this point? Second, I have no issue with Batman being apart of this Superman movie, but if it’s Superman’s film then they shouldn’t have the character infringe in the title. Finally, if they want to have it with Batman in the tittle- as they obviously do -it shouldn’t be VS, it should be AND!!! They are partners!
Also Snyder better not give Batman a holster and gun, like he wrote Superman snapping necks in the first film!
Mike, you have such little knowledge on the canon behind the set up for this film it’s a little embarrassing
In the comic history, they do fight. It is brutal and both have good reasons for it. Don’t worry, batman can hold his own and does pretty well. So, yeah…same team…but gonna be a knock down drag out.
you suck and should be ashamed of yourself, read a comic book poser.
I like ‘Batman low fives Superman: Dawn of Justice’
It’s low fives because the v is small… ok I’m done.
It’s a bit of a stretch, but still pretty funny.
This is supposed to be a Superman movie, and he’s not even the TITLE CHARACTER.
DC and Warner Bros. are showing they have no confidence in any other character besides Batman to carry a movie.
Actually, the story is based off of the comic of the same name. So there’s not much the Warner Bros. could do there…
what jack said. History ppl.
You know what? I like it…
Bitch Bitch Bitch. Waaaahhhhh waahhhhhhh. Who cares what it’s called. I can’t wait to see it.
I care what it’s named. And there’s a ton worse names that it could have been. So I’m happy it’s not one of them.
Soooo is this not Man of Steel 2 anymore or is this its own movie? I’m too confused by all of the news to get any sense of it anymore.
Man of Steel is basically now the start of the “unified” DC universe
So the next movie will be called ” Rise of Justice” ?
The third in the trilogy, “Battle for Justice.”
Together we can be Justice
Well thats a stupid fucking name
