BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES Intro Gets a Live-Action Makeover

As all Batman fans know, this month marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Dark Knight’s first appearance in Detective Comics #27. Thus far we’ve been gifted with a reveal of the next screen Batman — Ben Affleck — as well as animated shorts from beloved Batman artists Bruce Timm and Darwyn Cooke. Now it’s time for an unofficial treat — someone has taken the introduction to Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series and redone it in live action. The end result is pretty damn cool: something familiar and at the same time decidedly different.

But don’t take our word for it — take a look and see for yourself.

The above video is directed and edited by Tomi Pietilä, with cinematography by Teemu Saarinen and 3D art by Tommi Tuominen. Batman is played by Harri Kailanto. I particularly like the fact that it walks that fine line between being too detailed and too simplistic. It’s affectionate without being overly reverent. Kudos to all responsible.

Now, can we get a live-action remake of the intro to Justice League?
