Batman Just Wants to Brood in the New LEGO BATMAN 3: BEYOND GOTHAM Trailer

Batman returns! Again! In LEGO form! I’m using too many exclamation points!

And with good reason: this morning, WB Games revealed LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, with the teaser trailer below. And what can I say, I’m a sucker for goofy Batman getting the business from the rest of the Justice League.

Instead of delivering another open-city game in the vein of LEGO Batman 2, it seems someone out there was saying “more, crazier” behind the scenes at TT Games, resulting in a story that will see Batman (and friends) battling Braniac who wants to destroy Earth for some reason.

From the sounds of it, Troy Baker is back to voice the Caped Crusader (WB hasn’t revealed a list of voice credits yet), but I can’t be sure if that’s Travis Willingham returning as Superman from LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes. Whatever the case, the two have a great rhythm here, with Batman doing his dark and broody thing while the ever-up and optimistic Superman won’t leave him alone about his new spacesuit (also, a win in Superman’s column: he doesn’t need a spacesuit).

With a planned fall release, LEGO BATMAN 3: Beyond Gotham will be out for both previous and current-gen consoles and handhelds.

You can find the full synopsis below the trailer.

From the publisher:

“In LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the Caped Crusader joins forces with the super heroes of the DC Comics Universe and blasts off to outer space to stop the evil Brainiac from destroying Earth. Using the power of the Lantern Rings, Brainiac shrinks worlds to add to his twisted collection of miniature cities from across the universe. Now the greatest super heroes and the most cunning villains must unite and journey to different Lantern Worlds to collect the Lantern Rings and stop Brainiac before it’s too late.

Players will unlock more than 150 unique characters from the DC Comics universe, including members of the Justice League and LEGO big figures such as Killer Croc, Solomon Grundy and many more. Fans of all ages will be able to control their favorite heroes and villains with new gadgets and abilities. Brainiac’s mind controlling abilities and the power of the Lantern rings bring unexpected twists to the classic characters’ personalities.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham also will allow players to explore iconic locations such as the Hall of Justice, the Batcave and the Justice League Watchtower. They will be able to access Batman’s training modules on the Bat Computer and take part in various challenges, battles and races.”

  1. I just hope that Nightwing is a playable character and not DLC.

  2. Sweet! This looks great, and sounds like a fun game to play! I’ve wanted to be Batman since I was 4, which is why I work in food service now since I never really had any realistic goals or aspirations.
