Bare Witness to More MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Concept Art

Even Jurassic World absolutely dominates the box office, people all over are still talking about Mad Max: Fury Road. The film is like nothing we’ve seen in a long time, and it even inspired a few to find true love. Now, we get a chance to see some of the work that was put into this movie even before anyone knew it was being worked on. Australian concept artist, Peter Pound has placed a large number of concept pieces he drafted for Fury Road up on his site for us all to enjoy. We ran a story, previously about some late-90s concept art for the film, but these new ones seem to be updated. By now many know just how much trouble George Miller went through in order to make the film a reality, with pre-production work spanning from the latter half of the 1980s all the way up to a few years ago. Those who need proof of just how long this movie has been in the works can simply take a look at Pound’s work, dating back to 2000 and 2001 when they were first drafted. It is also quite interesting to see how much of these concepts survived the 12 to 13 years since they were initially created.

Pound’s work offers a look at the inspiration for some of the various vehicles and characters for the film, as well as several storyboards for scenes. In fact, these storyboards can be recognized as shots Miller used in the film over a decade later. Just goes to show that when you do your job well, it sticks with people. Check out a few of Pound’s pieces in the gallery below, and be sure to head over to his site to see all of them. (Just be warned, early concepts for the movie seemed to involve a lot more nudity than we got in the film, the gallery may be deemed NSFW.)

What do you think of the concept art? Would you like to see a full book of these glorious, decade-spanning ideas? Let us know in the comments!
