BAR RESCUE, Tobey Maguire, THE HIVE, THE LEFTOVERS: Upcoming Podcasts

Holiday? Sure, it’s a long weekend (at least in some countries, including this one), but the Nerdist Podcast Network is still hard at work preparing some great listening for you this week. (As always, it’s all subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances like Katie’s dog eating her homework) (Sorry, Scout, it’s a joke. A JOKE. Don’t bite me):

Bar Rescue‘s Jon Taffer is making Big Fan Matt Mira’s dreams come true, putting Matt and Jordan Morris on one episode of his show and now coming on the Nerdist Podcast to talk about his career, working at L.A.’s legendary Troubadour, what makes a great bar, and what, exactly, is a “butt funnel” (hint: not what you just thought it was).

And just look at these adorable bar patrons:

A couple of our favorite comics, Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer, will drop by the Nerdist Podcast to talk about their Vimeo series Crash Test, in which they bring the audiences to unsuspecting comedians’ homes on a big ol’ bus.

You know about Chris and chess, so it’s a natural that Tobey Maguire and producer/director Ed Zwick will be on the Nerdist Podcast to talk about their movie Pawn Sacrifice, about the 1972 Bobby Fischer-Boris Spassky showdown for the World Chess Championship. There’s also talk about career, sobriety, superheroes, and parenting.

And if all goes well, we’ll also have David Yarovesky, the director of Nerdist Presents: The Hive, on the Nerdist Podcast — hey, you’re going to go see it, right? September 14th in a special screening near you via Fathom Events? Find out where it’s playing and buy tickets here.

Nerdist Writers Panel will have the folks behind and in HBO’s The Leftovers — creator Damon Lindelof, director Mimi Leder, and actors Ann Dowd, Christopher Eccleston, and Carrie Coon.

Influential comic artist and writer Art Adams will face the Nerdist Comics Panel.

Dave and Anna did a live Terrified at NerdMelt Showroom as they prepare to bring the show back in a triumphant return. We’ll have it this week.

And actor Eric Edelstein (Shameless, Jurassic World) wil talk to Gil about his career on The Mutant Season.

And more, always more. We do not rest. Go to the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage to find it all, and “like” (man, it’s awkward to write that) the Nerdist Podcast Network Facebook page. I’m going to go back to doing what I always do on long weekends: work. Because that’s what I do.
