Back to the Future Day has come and gone. We are now permanently in the future! But there is one more bit of Back to the Future news to mark the occasion. On last nightâs episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd showed up in character as Marty McFly and Doc Brown. They arrived from 1985 and found themselves in the middle of Jimmy Kimmelâs talk show.
As recently predicted in a few Back to the Future parodies, Marty and Doc were less than impressed by the âalternate 2015″ they discovered. They were also disappointed by the death of late night comedy legend Johnny Carson, the lack of real working hoverboards, and more war in the Middle East. And it didnât help that Kimmel held up the cronut as humanityâs singular achievement of the last 30 years!
Kimmel inevitably took a selfie with Marty and Doc, which briefly gave Doc a chance to examine Kimmelâs smart phone and ponder the implications of what could be done with such a fantastic piece of technology… before Kimmel told him what we actually do with our handheld supercomputers.
But Marty and Doc werenât the only familiar faces from Back to the Future. Huey Lewis showed up for a cameo, and he even sang âBack in Time.â As Doc Brown took an Uber back to the past to fix our miserable future, Marty stuck around to watch his doppelgänger, Michael J. Fox, talk about how he got the Back to the Future role when he was still on Family Ties.
Although Kimmel mixes up the movies in this clip. Marty didn’t get the hoverboard until Back to the Future 2!
