Are you telling me you built a time machine…out of Pepsi cans?? This year marks the 30th anniversary of when Biff gets covered in manure, I mean, Marty McFly goes Back to the Future. Fans are celebrating this unmarked day in history by having special screenings, making Jailbird Joey cakes and basically indulging in all things related to the citizens of Hill Valley.
YouTuber Dave Hax has gone meta with his Back to the Future tribute by making a mini DeLorean out of Pepsi cans. Instead of common American aluminum soda cans, he uses Pepsi cans made out of steel, a practice commonly used in Europe. It makes this craft much more sturdy as well as appropriate for building a time machine.
He uses a sharp knife and scissors to do the dirty work, cutting a can into pieces until it becomes a flat sheet of metal. He then creates templates and draws on the details, and uses Super Glue to hold the whole thing together. Knives and Super Glue? Kids, don’t try this at home unless supervised.
Tires are created using two soda bottle tops, in other words, this guy really loves drinking Pepsi. After adding all the additional details during the tutorial, the craft really starts to look like a DeLorean and you quickly forget it had a life as a soda can a few minutes prior.
At the end of the video a link to the template is provided should you be eyeing your own tasty beverage and thinking itâd have a better life as a the worldâs tiniest time machine.
