Surely by this point youâve taken the Avengers: Endgame trailer apart frame by frameâif Hawkeye felt the need to rebrand as Ronin, does that mean heâs avenging his post-dusting family? Is Nebula saying goodbye to a dearly departed Cap? How many wigs can Scarlett Johanssonâs head possibly take?âbut thatâs purely on a mental level. Some of us might be better suited to deconstructing the trailer and rebuilding it in a different way: with LEGOs! And by âsome of us,â I mean Huxley Berg Studios, the YouTube home of countless big-ticket trailers recreated in LEGO.
Now, there is a lot to love here, but what I find most remarkable is the emotional turmoil I experience when Iron Man’s helmet goes dark. Itâs just as sharp as what I felt when I saw the actual Robert Downey Jr. power it down. (I shouldnât really be surprised; The LEGO Batman Movie made me cry more than once, and, well, itâs The LEGO Batman Movie. What I’m saying is animated LEGOs destroy me on an emotional level.) Something else I enjoy about LEGO renderings, both licensed and unofficial, of real people is learning whose faces translate best to yellow plastic. Here, Iâm going with Jeremy Renner. The man looks like an action figure come to life anyway, so minifig isnât too far a leap.
I wonât blame you if you fall down a rabbit hole of Huxley Berg clips now. If I were you, I would check out the Infinity War trailer if only to see Bearded Lego Cap. And, of course, be sure to check back as more Endgame trailers drop. You know thereâll be a fair few.
Whoâs your favorite yellow plastic Avenger? Let us know in the comments!
