“Indifference” is a pretty good way to describe how I feel about Wednesdays: they’re not nearly as bad as Mondays, not nearly as cool as Fridays–pure meh. At least with something you love or hate wholly, you can get passionate about it, but what are you supposed to do about the times when you are just going through motions.  The answer, according to NY-based electronic duo ATR31 (pronounced ay-tee-ray) is to try to turn that indifference into ambivalence, reaching into either side of your emotional spectrum.

“Ambivalence” is a mollifyingly mellow track that should help you take the middle of the week for what it is, whether you can’t decide if you are a big fan or not so much, and relax your achy bones. Though the song delivers decisively lovelorn lyrics–“I want you to want me,” it stews in a languorous pall of electronics, making the idea of expending effort seem laughable. But rather than letting said environment dictate actions, Victoria Chavez does her best to be resolute about a thing she knows she desires, even if she might about-face on the object of her lusting at a later juncture.
