At Last! TRUE DETECTIVE Confirms Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly Join Season 2

Well jeez, took you guys over there in HBOLand long enough, but we’re glad the news is here all the same: True Detective season two is no longer a meme and a joke and a parody of itself (casting is a flat circle), but an actual, honest to goodness real thing that’s happening with a fully reported cast of characters. Welcome to Carcosa — wait no that’s a season one thing — Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly!

Yes, that’s right: the long-speculated and unofficially-confirmed actors — in particular Rachel McAdams and Taylor “That’s So Riggins” Kitsch — must’ve finally sent in their paperwork and signed contracts because HBO has finally revealed their roles in the existential madness set to plague Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn this season.

The information we have is as follows: McAdams will play Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detective whose “uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.” Kitsch — who long ago confirmed his role on the series without the mouthpieces of the it’s-not-TV network — will saddle into Paul Woodrugh, a “war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.” Sounds intriguing!

Kelly Reilly is a fantastic British actress you likely know even if her name doesn’t sound familiar. She’s starred in a bevy of critically acclaimed productions in the U.K. as well as on-screen stints in Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows as Mary Watson. As Jordan, Reilly will portray Frank Semyon’s ambitious wife, a “former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises.”

Vince Vaughn was already confirmed to play the criminally minded Frank Semyon, with Farrell slated to play the illustrious Ray Velcoro, a “compromised detective” with struggling alliances.

All and all a very exciting prospect, don’t you think? FINALLY we can stop speculating on its weird issues and simply wait for the second season to simply be — a novel thought, eh?
