ASSASSIN’S CREED ORIGINS Takes the Series to Egypt

It’s been two years since the release of Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (which we absolutely loved), and now it’s finally time to head back…all the way back to the beginning, that is. With Ubisoft’s next entry in the beloved Assassin’s Creed series, players will scale pyramids, ride through deserts, and dive deep into the very beginning of the Assassin’s brotherhood. The developer hit the stage during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference. Check out the worldwide debut trailer below!

Yeah, I don’t know about you but I’m pretty pumped to walk (erm…assassinate) like an Egyptian when the game hits consoles on October 27, 2017. While we don’t know too much about the story just yet, the brief clips that were shown off introduced us to the game’s protagonist Bayek, the “protector of Egypt, whose personal story will lead to the creation of the Assassin’s Brotherhood.”

According to the presentation, the game will take players through deserts, lush oases, and across the Mediterranean Sea to the tombs of Giza. The massive stretch of land is peppered with dangerous factions, wild beasts, and palm trees as far as the eye can see. To give fans a closer look at the game, the developer also revealed a short gameplay teaser (running on the Xbox One X’s powerful Scorpio engine in 4K) to show Bayek in action. Check it out below:

For those who are familiar with the series’ lineage, Origins is coming from the team behind Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Over the course of four years since its launch, the team has focused on creating a “new beginning” for the franchise. As we got to see in the two clips, they’ve added some interesting tweaks to gameplay. Slipping between ranged weapons (like the bow) and melee weapons looks like it will be smoother than ever before.

I for one can’t wait to join Bayek on his journey at the end of the year. Are you excited for the Egyptian setting? What do you hope to see at the formation of the Assassin’s Brotherhood? Let us know in the comments below!
