Adding Lightsabers to Arya and Brienne’s GAME OF THRONES Fight Only Makes it Better

During the fourth episode of Game of Thrones season seven, fans were thrilled to see the second meeting of Arya Stark and Brienne of Tarth in Winterfell. But they were perhaps more excited to see Arya’s duel with Brienne, as the girl who has no name took on the woman who beat The Hound. For Arya, it was like a superhero unmasking in front of her family, as she revealed her ability to fight and kill…and she might have been holding back. Now, a Game of Thrones fan has taken Arya and Brienne’s epic moment and added the only thing that could make it even more exciting: lightsabers!

On YouTube, a user by the name of Omid G has released a video called “Arya vs. Brienne Lightsaber Duel,” which lives up to the promise of its title. The beginning of the clip even features a brief training session between Brienne and her squire, Podrick Payne. By all accounts, Podrick’s a good lad who isn’t as gifted a fighter as Brienne or Arya—that’s why their face-off was easily the main event. And in a nice touch, Arya’s lightsaber is given the distinctive purple hue of Mace Windu’s chosen weapon.

It really is amazing how simply adding the lightsabers and their sound effects to the video makes this clip even more fun to watch. This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Star Wars‘ iconic weapons added to Game of Thrones footage.  In fact, this is actually Omid G’s second video with that mashup. Their first video was last year’s “Battle of the Bastards” lightsaber edition.
