Artist Turns DIABLO’s Tristram Into a Stunning Wood Etching

Graphic Designer Alex Griendling and Neutral Ground are at it again. After they blew people away with their wood-etched map of The Legend of Zelda’s Hyrule, they are now taking a darker turn with their map of Tristram from Blizzard’s original Diablo. Like their previous work, the etching includes a highly-detailed recreation of a video game world, but this time it’s a bit smaller than the entire kingdom of Hyrule.

These are sure to go quickly, so add an etching to your collection at Neutral Ground’s store here.

Along with the various trees and vegetation around the village, Griendling also engraved the names of the villagers who own each house in the village, the portal to Hell that is eventually opened in the game, as well as the cursed Cathedral that sits above the Horadrim Monastery housing Diablo’s soulstone. The town isn’t exactly gigantic, but any fan of the series will recognize its significance to the story of the Diablo series.

Griendling added some extra goodies for fans of the game as well. The bottom right corner portrays a Fire Spell scroll and the top left corner is home to a sword and an amulet, which may simply represent the types of items players come across in the game. (It could also be something more attached to the lore of the game, and if that is true please let me know in the comment section below.)

Check out the rest of the pictures in the gallery below for a better look at this masterpiece, and be sure to comment on your favorite Diablo memories so we can all reminisce about stopping hell from taking over. (We still shiver at “Fresh meat!”)
