Artist Imagines Stylish Apartments for Famous Superheroes

Part of being a superhero is having an awesome and unique place to hang your hat (or cape). Batman has the Batcave and Wayne Manor, Superman has the Fortress of Solitude, the X-Men have the Xavier School, etc. But what if all these superheroes really just needed a place to chill and watch TV, or a living space to show off all the design techniques they learned from watching too much Home and Garden Television?

Now, illustrator and architect Federico Babina has imagined what these spaces would look like, and created a series of images he’s named Interheroes. This series of illustrations gives us a look at the swanky apartment homes of famous superheroes, decorated to match their costumed personas.

Babina’s design sense is all very mid-century modern, and look kind of like what Don Draper from Mad Men’s apartment would look like if he were a superhero, circa 1966. These minimalist designs are filled with fun little details, like Superman’s fold out chairs being in the shape of his ‘S’ shield, and Spider-Man’s chairs being made of webbing (because of course). Although if I had to pick a favorite chair, Daredevil’s red one with horns is sublime. I really wish it was real, because I kind of want one for myself.

However, the winner of all of these images is easily the Fantastic Four’s apartment, which Babina designed to incorporate elements from each of the four members of the team. For example, the Thing in the rocky, orange wall, the Human Torch can be found in the fireplace, the Invisible Woman in the floor lamp, and Mister Fantastic is the chair. You can see all of the Interheroes series in our gallery below, and to see more illustrations from the artist, be sure to visit Babina’s website. You can also purchase prints of  Interheroes at society6.
