While this week’s episode of Arrow wasn’t shocking — we knew the big “twist” for over half a year thanks to the announcement that Brandon Routh is reprising his Arrow role on The CW’s upcoming Legends of Tomorrow — it was nonetheless an entertaining and epic episode surrounding the search and rescue of Ray Palmer. So let’s get right into recapping it, shall we?

Six months ago, Ray tried to minimize his ATOM suit, and the entire top floor of Palmer Tech exploded. But since we know he didn’t really die (cough, Legends of Tomorrow, cough) what really happened to Ray? Fast forward to present day…

Forgoing showers and meals and general normal life activities, Felicity was working day and night to find Ray now that she knew he was still alive, thanks to his video messages. She was able to uncover another video from him via his suit, and he revealed to Oliver and Felicity that he’s being held against his will by people who want to use his suit for nefarious reasons (wonder who that could possibly be?) … and that he can’t blast out of captivity using his suit since he’s trapped in a tiny prison on someone’s desk!

With that discovery, Felicity becomes obsessed with building a device at Palmer Tech that can resize Ray and free him, and her tireless efforts make her irritable and kind of mean to Oliver, who only wants to help her in any way he can. But since he can’t code or build complicated tech, there is nothing for him to do, and he isn’t used to feeling so helpless. Felicity enlists Curtis to build the resizing device, and they realize the most important piece of the machine is currently owned by Kord Industries, their biggest competitor, so they can’t exactly ask to borrow it.

But that issue is small potatoes when Felicity’s mom Donna unexpectedly shows up at Palmer Tech for a terribly-timed visit. Turns out, she and Oliver have been talking up a storm (um, so cute), and they both decided a visit from mom would be exactly what Felicity needed. She, of course, disagrees wholeheartedly because of the whole Ray-being-held-captive-as-a-micro-man thing. Time for Olicity’s first fight! Over Team Arrow’s mission coms, no less. Talk about awkward.

Couple sparring aside, Team Arrow steals the tech from Kord Industries, but to make matters worse, Felicity discovers that it’s none other than Damien Dahrk holding Ray hostage. That’s the worst news possible for Felicity, but to Oliver, it’s actually good news since they can have Lance get them intel on Ray’s location. And while they wait for that information to come in, Oliver forces Felicity to actually sit down and have dinner with her mom and him. He’s excited about it, but for her, it’s absolute torture. Who else is loving how much Oliver wants to build a relationship with Felicity’s mom?! This is just adorable.

Not adorable? Oliver and Felicity finally getting down to the root of Felicity’s anger: she’s not mad at Oliver, she’s mad at herself for getting so swept up in her relationship with him that she wasn’t around to receive Ray’s SOS messages immediately after his accident, before Dahrk captured him. And she’s also disappointed for losing herself in the relationship. Oliver decides to give Felicity space until she figures out what she wanted from the relationship and from him. He later confides in Diggle that he is beginning to question why Felicity chose Ray over him and if Ivy Town was as good as it’s going to get for their relationship. The Olicity honeymoon phase is officially O-V-E-R. We knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less.

After Lance and Diggle work together to track Dahrk, Oliver has Felcity enlist Curtis to assemble the resizing device in the field, and Team Arrow suit up to rescue Ray. Diggle, disguised as a Ghost, “knocked out” Oliver and delivers him right to Dahrk. Smart! Felicity and Curtis base jump right into the building, and Thea, Sara and Laurel take out some Ghosts. Felicity and Curtis successfully resize Ray, and Team Arrow evacuates. Talk about some great teamwork!

Back at the lair, Ray brings everyone up to speed on his time as a micro man (including some harrowing tales of cockroaches the size of golden retrievers trying to eat him … ew), and he reveals to Felicity that she is now a target thanks to Dahrk intercepting his messages to her. And Dahrk got one other thing from Ray: residue from his suit that he wants to use to power some kind of giant computer chip. That’s can’t be good.

Meanwhile, at the Lance family home, it was time for reunion 2.0! Sara called her mom to reveal she’s alive again, and the rest of the family decide to spend some quality time together now that she’s no longer a rabid killing machine hell bent on getting her revenge on Thea. But now that her soul is back, all is not back to normal. Turns out she’s lost some memories, and she’s also suffering from the same bloodlust plaguing Thea. She can’t deal with killing people to make herself feel better, so she decides to leave Star City to visit her mom and get away while she figures out what to do (cough, she’s going to move to Legends of Tomorrow with Ray, cough).

At least Olicity has figured out where they stand: both Felicity and Oliver apologize for their shortcomings during the past few days and make up, agreeing that they’ve both found themselves in each other and they’re going to be fine. Hey, did you expect anything less?! And while Olicity made up, a new relationship formed at the bar: Felicity’s mom and Laurel’s dad. Awwww!

Back at Oliver’s campaign office (you haven’t forgotten that Oliver’s running for mayor, right?), Alex Davis has taken control of Ollie’s campaign in a good way, and Thea is very impressed with his work. And vice versa! Alex asked her out on a date, but at first she turned him down, saying her life is too complicated at the moment for a relationship. But after all the events of this episode, she changed her mind, and their date is set. Time for Thea to get some lovin’!

In this week’s flashback storyline on the island, Oliver took Baron Reiter to the cave Constantine showed him last week. There, they find a message leading the seeker to some kind of “gift.” Oliver and Conklin, the Shadowspire soldier who doesn’t trust him, took some captives to the cove to search for it. Conklin bribed a captive to attack and try to kill Oliver, but Oliver obviously got the upper hand and killed him. Conklin shouldn’t have underestimated Oliver!
