Aquaman has been getting a bad rap for a long time now. He can telepathically communicate with sea creatures, but everyone and their motherâincluding Bruce Wayneâreduces that to snarky comments about him being able to talk to fish. He wields a trident, which as demonstrated by Brick Tamlin in Anchorman is a deadly weapon, but that is somehow considered lame in comparison to Green Lantern‘s ring or Batman’s Batarangs. And, last but not least, he is the king of Atlantis …which is somehow viewed as less impressive than being a playboy billionaire or a Themysciran princess.
But now, Zack Snyder is showing us just how radical Aquaman really is in a brand new behind-the-scenes image from the set of Justice League with a shot of Arthur Curry (played by Jason Momoa) in his awesome Atlantean armor, wielding an axe in lieu of a trident.

Look, you guys wanted Justice League to be more fun than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, right? Well, based on that Comic-Con footage and now this image of Aquaman playing what is absolutely, definitely Jethro Tull’s “Aqualung.” If nothing else, it makes a perfect complement for Justice League‘s new, metallic logo, which seems like it belongs to a heavy metal that never was.
Justice League, which also stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, and Ray Fischer as Victor Stone/Cyborg, hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
What do you think of Aquaman in full-on, rock ‘n’ roll armor mode? What do you want to see from Justice League? Let us know in the comments below.
