Ah, yes, and then there’s this video, the second behind-the-scenes production video from The Hobbit, posted over the weekend, on the occasion of wrapping the first round of production. The cast and crew talks about what they’ll do on hiatus (work starts up again in September), and there’s some location scouting and helicopter shots.:
Expect more of this until December 2012, when you’ll undoubtedly be queuing up to see the finished product (part 1, at least…).

Am I the only one who isn’t all that excited about this movie? I liked Tolkien’s work when I read it in 4th grade, but since then I’ve found much better stuff. I know Tolkien is to fantasy what the Beatles are to music (they both influenced EVERYTHING that came after) but now that I’m an adult I think his stuff is a bit too simplistic for my taste.
I think it also has to do with what the guys have been talking about lately with nerd culture overload. It used to be exciting when something like this came out because it was probably the only nerdy movie you would see for the next year or two. Now there are nerd shitstorms like The Green Lantern coming out all the time.
Don’t mind me, I probably have a case of cynical bastard like Stan. I’ll try not to rain on everyone else’s parade.
