Anna Kendrick Communes with the Force in New STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT Trailer

If a large number of people disappear on December 18, it won’t be because of the Rapture or an elaborate promo for HBO’s The Leftovers. December 18 is the release date for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first Star Wars movie in over ten years. And it’ll practically be an unofficial geek holiday!

But before The Force Awakens, gamers will get to reenter the saga in Star Wars: Battlefront, the new game from EA that recreates classic battles from the Star Wars films and even a few previously unseen military encounters, including the recently teased Battle of Jakku.

To set the stage for its newest Star Wars game, EA has released a new trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront that features the sudden disappearance of people from all walks of life. They simply vanish and leave their clothes behind, Obi-Wan Kenobi-style. It would be pretty disturbing if the familiar musical theme from Star Wars wasn’t playing in the background.

However, the trailer’s most surprising moment comes when Anna Kendrick appears and quotes Obi-Wan’s famous line from the original Star Wars movie: “if you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” Then the Pitch Perfect star also vanishes before the gameplay footage begins. Not coincidentally, a female rebel spawns in the game immediately after Kendrick’s disappearance.

Star Wars Battlefront will hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 17.
