Andre Tricoteux Teases X-MEN Connection In DEADPOOL

When Deadpool hits theaters next year, he will become the second X-Men-related character to headline his own live-action film. Ryan Reynolds’s cinematic Merc with a Mouth may inhabit a fourth-wall-breaking avalanche of insanity, but he’s still a part of the X-Men film franchise.

For Deadpool, that connection is embodied by Andre Tricoteux, the actor who will be taking over the role of Colossus in the film. Daniel Cudmore played Colossus in three of the previous X-Men movies. And while X-Men: Days of Future Past may have changed the timeline, Colossus’ ties to the X-Men will remain intact.

“I can’t divulge too much, but he’s definitely an X-Men,” said Tricoteux during an interview with CBR. “I can’t discuss his relationship with Deadpool, but you’ll get to understand it pretty quickly in this movie.” He later added that “Deadpool operates in the same universe as the X-Men. I could see some overlap. I’m not privy to what the storylines are going to be moving forward, though.”

Tricoteux also shared his thoughts on Colossus’ redesigned costume that he’ll be wearing in Deadpool.

“I thought it was where it needed to be,” related Tricoteux. “I felt it lent to a more mercenary feel rather than the traditional superhero tights feel. Some of the Colossus uniforms have been yellow and red, with an animated, comic book feel. With this outfit, I felt a little darker, a little tougher and a little more mercenary.”

You can read the entire interview with Tricoteux at Comic Book Resources, which also touches upon Tricoteux’s roles in iZombie and the Warcraft film.

Deadpool will be released on February 12, 2016.
