An Interactive BB-8 Joins Disney in Time for STAR WARS Celebration

An Interactive BB-8 Joins Disney in Time for STAR WARS Celebration

This weekend is Star Wars Celebration weekend, and Orlando is beginning to gear up for the intergalactic fun and organized chaos headed its way. But just because the big event is taking place in Florida, it doesn’t mean that other parts of the country aren’t gearing up for their own big Star Wars celebrations. At the Walt Disney Studios Hollywood park, they’ll be hosting an event called Star Wars Galactic Nights that same weekend. And if you’re not quite sure if you want to brave the traffic and lines to head out to the park, Disney’s just unveiled a new face you can expect to see in the Star Wars Launch Bay–an interactive BB-8. Take a look:

As Inside the Magic reports, the friendly droid will be waiting to greet and chat with park visitors in his own little area. So where can you find BB-8? He’ll be hanging out in the old Disney Infinity game area, in a private room in the resistance base. You can chat with the droid, who will happily chirp, whir, and beep his responses to your questions (so unless you speak droid, don’t think you’ll be getting any Star Wars: The Last Jedi dirt out of BB-8), and you can most definitely grab a selfie or two. While BB-8 does move around a bit while he’s responding to your questions, they’ve got him displayed on a pedestal so you don’t have to worry about awkwardly trying to get a selfie with the droid on the ground, nor do you have to worry about him rolling away.

Tickets to Disney’s Star Wars Galactic Nights are already sold out, but it stands to reason that BB-8 will become a new staple to the Star Wars Launch Bay. So don’t fret yet!
