Ricky Gervais fans — really, Karl Pilkington fans — in the U.S. will be pleased to know that “An Idiot Abroad,” the travel show sending travel-averse Pilkington around the globe to be uncomfortable and confused, will air on Discovery’s Science Channel, starting January 21st. The show, another chapter in the continuing ritual abuse of Pilkington by Gervais and Stephen Merchant, has already aired in the U.K. on Sky One. (I know, second Discovery-related item in a week or so. No relationship there — don’t know anyone at the network, don’t have a stake in it. I just know there are a lot of Gervais fans out there who’d want to know)

Can’t wait. Hopefully it’ll be uncensored. . . yeah, right.
I really enjoyed An Idiot Abroad. A travel show starring a man who has no interest in traveling. It amazes me how unimpressed Karl is with everything.
While we’re busy importing, I’d like to see QI and Never Mind the Buzzcocks come over as well.
It’s a very interesting show. At times quite funny, mostly very strange, and while you cringe at how averse KP is to anything that isn’t what he knows, you have to agree with some of the things he says (relatively few, thankfully). It’s a travel show that’s honest, not just a well dressed, well cleansed, pampered travel host who stays in great hotels on someone else’s dime. And Gervais really enjoys torturing Karl, so that’s funny.
Thank you.Thank you.Thank you.I cannot wait til this either airs or comes out on DVD.
I love all the things they’ve done with Karl Pilkington. He’s such a well meaning and lovable little moron. I was able to view the SKY feed of this show, and it was brilliant. I hope they do something else with him.
Can’t wait! I’ve been watching the podcast clips available on iTunes and love it. Karl Pilkington is an unwitting comic genius!
