An “Arrested Development” Promo, In Case You Weren’t Excited Enough

ardevnetflixreturnThe Bluths are back, and Netflix has a full promo video for them, touting the May 26th return of America’s favorite seriously dysfunctional and sometimes criminal family with a stair car when all of those new Arrested Development episodes show up. Everybody’s back, even Kitty. And multiple avian guests.

I’ve been a little nervous about this, to tell you the truth — the anticipation of a beloved series’ return seems to always lead to disappointment — but this promo hints at exactly the kind of lunacy that we loved during the original run on Fox, and I’m now having a hard time waiting for the episodes to be available. I am SO in.

How about you? Comment down there in the, um, comments.

  1. Three toes of Fury says:

been rewatching the show from season 1 episode 1 this month in anticipation. its brilliant.

this trailer makes me giddy…and im with Demko, the stair car joke had me cackling…its that kind of ‘nother-level writing and wordplay that makes this show so good.

Peace .n. There’s always money in the banana stand.

  2. Demko says:

My favorite jokes for AD were always the plays on words, so the joke about “You’re going to get some stares with this car” had me rolling, even thought it was an obvious play on words.

I am 100% in on this season, and absolutely cannot believe I have to wait 2 more weeks. BAH.

  3. Nick says:

Aaron: The first joke was actually a reference to the cornballer bits!

  4. Gordie says:

    kaw kkaw kkaw!!

  5. Aaron says:

I agree with you 100% about how we are typically disappointed by the return of movies, TV shows, band reunions, etc. that we once loved, but I always approach with a wide-eyed optimism. Of course, I’ve been let down like 80% of the time, but it feels good to dare to dream.

That first joke with Michael and the taxi didn’t land properly for me, and I immediately cringed (maybe it’s a Phoenix thing?), but the rest of the trailer had me in stitches. This trailer is clearly for the die-hard fans: Tobias needing a ‘sign’, the use of Europe’s “The Final Countdown” for Gob’s magic act, Buster’s juice drink-box highs…

I have faith in Mitchell and team’s writing. And there’s no way this A-list cast can foul up even the weakest joke in the bunch. I am truly excited and expecting awesomeness.
