American Icons

Hey, if you’re in L.A. and want to see a particularly awesome art exhibit that’s right up the alley of most nerds, there’s one opening tonight that you’ll want to see. It’s called “American Icons,” and it’s a series of original paintings by Jason Brockert that depict things like Transformers, Star Wars action figures and classic video game consoles and game packages. If you’ve never thought of a Commodore 64 as art… oh, what am I saying? Of course you think it’s art. That’s why you’re here. And that’s why you’ll love this exhibit.

The show is debuting 30 paintings and 10 drawings, and you can buy prints. It opens tonight, Friday (11/18) with a reception 7-10 pm Pacific and runs through December 17th at iam8bit, 2147 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles. The reception is free but you need to RSVP on Facebook by clicking here. Get all the information you need by clicking here.

maybe instead of American Icons they could be called American Figures, because… they’re action figures…. ok so I’m not that funny but I thought that pun was good
