Warning: Spoilers follow for the season one finale of American Gods.
Get yourself a queen. Mr. Nancy told Mr. Wednesday a story in the season one finale of American Gods, and that story encouraged Wednesday to change his approach. He’s been recruiting Old Gods for the war against the New Gods all season, but has he been pulling the right gods to his side? It’s certainly up for debate. Wednesday, who we now know is Odin, at least made the right decision by going to talk to Easter and giving her the nudge she needed to loose her control and embrace who she truly is.
Women were at the key of the episode, and they were the focus of behind-the-scenes information shared by series showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. As they’ve been doing every week for each episode, Fuler and Green posted tidbits and photos showing a little more of what happened on the other side of the camera for the finale. This time around it was about a whole lot of Jesus, striking costume designs, Fabergé eggs, and more.
The first queen featured in the season one finale? Bilquis. We watched how she evolved over the decades and kept on moving forward however she could. We’ll begin with some costume illustrations from Suttirat Larlarb.

There was a cut scene involving Easter helping Bilquis. I could certainly stand a visit from the money pooping rabbit. Anyone know where I can find one of those?

It’s time for Easter. We’ll kick things off with a look at the buffet, as illustrated and imagined by Janice Poon:

Unsurprisingly, costume designer Larlarb captured magic when she designed Easter’s dress and the headpieces for the service staff.

Easter’s gathering wouldn’t have been complete without Jesus, and there were several different Jesuses in attendance. Look at all of them:

I am thrilled with any and all Pushing Daisies connections in American Gods.

The New Gods made an appearance at Easter’s gathering, and they came in style. Technical Boy’s teeth were festive for the occasion and inspired by Fabergé eggs, Media was dressed like Judy Garland in Easter Parade, and Technical Boy’s faceless men got Fred Astaire style looks.

Did Easter/Ostara kind of scare the bejeezus out of anyone else when she unleashed her powers? Head to the comments and tell me your thoughts on the character.
