AMERICAN GODS Adds Crispin Glover and Jonathan Tucker

Get ready for a real yarn, y’all, because American Gods has cast their resident liar and all-knowing omnipresent dudes, Nerdist can confirm. Acclaimed glorious weirdo, Crispin Glover, has been cast as Mr. World, with Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom, Hannibal, Justified) also hopping aboard to tackle the illustrious Low Key Lyesmith (Loki for short).

For those who are unfamiliar with the Neil Gaiman world Bryan Fuller is bringing to Starz, allow us to fill you in. (Note: there will be some slight spoilers here.)

Both Glover and Tucker have been cast for roles with major ties to Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) and Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). Tucker’s Low Key Lyesmith is a super philosophical sort, and one of the few confidantes that Shadow has in prison. He has quite a theory as to the how-and-why of what’s going down in the universe, giving Shadow the knowledge tools he needs to live outside the prison walls.

Glover, interestingly enough, will play Mr. World, the omnipresent leader of the New Gods coalition. Considering Mr. Wednesday is the leader of the Old Gods, we’re sure these two will have a thing or two to say to one another. But there’s an even bigger caveat here—and it’s a major spoiler, so you’ve been warned—Mr. World is later revealed to be an alias/cover for Low Key. Tucker and Glover do look similar, but to cast two separate people means there’s sure to be some interesting trickery and/or possible deviations from the script.

But what do you think of the castings? Let us know in the comments below.
