AMC Knows You BETTER CALL SAUL, Greenlights Prequel Series

Breaking Bad fans rejoice! Disproving the theory that all good things must come to an end, Deadline.com reports that AMC has given the official greenlight to Better Call Saul, the spinoff starring Bob Odenkirk as the titular lawyer Saul Goodman. Fear not, spoilerphobes, the series is a prequel, ensuring our favorite lawyer’s final fate remains a mystery for another few weeks.

AMC said that series was conceived by Vince Gilligan and writer-producer Peter Gould, who created Saul for a Season 2 episode, and will be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the Goodman character before his involvement with Walter White. Deadline reports that negotiations are still pending, but barring any unforeseen snags, Better Call Saul is expected to get a formal series order.

It’s safe to say expectations for the show are high, but there’s no better man for the job than Gilligan, who said about the potential series, “I would love to see a Saul Goodman spinoff. I like the idea of a lawyer show in which the main lawyer will do anything it takes to stay out of a court of law. He’ll settle on the courthouse steps, whatever it takes to stay out of the courtroom. That would be fun — I would like that.”

In the meantime you can hold over your itch to laugh at the world of Breaking Bad by watching the Saved by The Bell/Breaking Bad mashup:

Really?! (checks calendar) Today is not April 1st, right?

And with a title like that, it HAS to be a Sitcom. With a piccolo & trumpet laden theme song and everything.

And doing a Double Isaac at the close is a must.

  6. Dan Casey says:

@Elizabeth, no, you don’t know that since this is a prequel series.

So we now know Sal survives.

  8. Jon says:

Saul is the type of character that is better on short doses. That will get old pretty quick.
