The Primetime Creative Arts Emmys Show was held last night in Los Angeles to celebrate the technical disciplines and behind-the-scenes crafts that make your favorite television show the polished presentation you tune into week after week. Awards were given out in categories including casting, art direction and cinematography, lighting design, hair and makeup, music, special visual effects, stunts, and more. In addition to these traditional award categories, the Creative Emmys honor digital technology as well. Comedy Central’s @midnight hosted by our own Chris Hardwick was nominated in the interactive programming arena. The award went to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Digital Experience, but we’re incredibly proud of our fearless leader and all the great and talented people on the @midnight staff.
HBO, NBC and PBS were the big winning networks of the evening with 15,10 and 8 awards respectively. Guest-star Emmys were won by Uzo Aduba of Orange is the New Black, Jimmy Fallon for his appearance on Saturday Night Live, Allison Janney of Masters of Sex, and Joe Morton of Scandal. Jane Lynch won her first for her reality series hosting work on Hollywood Game Night. Casting awards went to Orange is the New Black, Fargo, and True Detective.
