The Ohio State University — excuse me, THE Ohio State University Marching Band (emphasis on “THE,” because, you know, there IS an Ohio University) is going all in on the nerd stuff, it appears, with the follow-up to that epic video game halftime show being this past weekend’s “Out of This World” routine, which starts with an alien spaceship (and obligatory slap at Michigan, of course) set to “It’s the End of the World As We Know It,” then produces an alien face to the tune of “1999” and so forth. George Noory (and Clyde Lewis) would be proud. The dancing alien is a highlight, and there’s Doc Brown’s DeLorean (replete with exhaust) and they do the Time Warp BECAUSE THEY CAN. Feel free to ignore the cheesy narration and “The Final Countdown.” Always feel free to ignore “The Final Countdown” unless you’re Gob Bluth.
