ALIEN: COVENANT Funko POP! and NECA Toys Arrive For #AlienDay

Next month marks the premiere of Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s latest foray into the world of people-eating Xenomorphs and the plucky female protagonists who manage to outrun them. As it happens, today (Wednesday) is also Alien Day, so named for the planet of doomed colonists that Ripley and the Colonel Marines escape from in Aliens, LV-426. So of course there were going to be some cool merch announcements today to commemorate the franchise — but I sure didn’t expect them to be quite so cute as these.

First up, we have these adorable Funko Pop! Vinyl toys inspired by the characters in Alien: Covenant. Here we have David (Michael Fassbender), Daniels (Katherine Waterston, complete with the haircut she stole from Ezra Miller in Fantastic Beasts), a poor facehugger-clad Oram (Billy Crudup, although I guess he probably won’t be in the movie all that much), and two different Xenomorphs, one with neon green battle damage.

However, Funko isn’t the only game in town when it comes to Alien toys— NECA Toys has been putting out quality Xenomorphs and other Alien figures for years, so it’s only natural they’d follow suit with a Covenant-style creature. This figure set is reportedly set for a June 2017 release, and will eventually be joined by soon-to-be-released figures of the film’s new monster, the Neomorph.

It’s cool to see the movie’s titular alien in sharper detail, but c’mon, Fox! We’ve gotten some concept art, but when are we going to get to see what the final design for the Neomorph looks like already? Guess we’ll have to wait until Alien Covenant premieres on May 19 to get a really good look at the thing.

Will you be picking up any of these awesome toys, or are you waiting until the movie comes out to start pre-ordering? Let us know in the comments!
