ALADDIN and Friends Join the Funko Pop!s Family This Fall

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Disney’s Aladdin, the final of three Alan Menken/Howard Ashman animated musicals that have all become modern day classics. (The other two, of course, being Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid).

The film became so beloved that it spawned a successful Broadway musical, and will soon be a live-action spectacle starring Will Smith as the Genie. Now, as a way to celebrate all things Agrabah, Funko has announced that everyone’s favorite street rat and his friends are joining the Pop!s line-up this fall.

For wave 1 of this series, we’ve got Aladdin himself, a new take on Princess Jasmine in red (two previous versions of Jasmine in her classic blue look have been released from Funko in their Disney Princess waves), Jasmine’s best friend and protector, the tiger Rajah, and Aladdin’s partner-in-crime, Abu the monkey.

Rounding out the series is the villainous Jafar in his red genie form. There will also be a glow chase variant of Jafar, a rarity of 1-in-6! Books-A-Million will carry a variant “flocked” version of Rajah, while Hot Top will have the flocked Abu as an exclusive. A glitter variant of Jasmine will be a Barnes & Noble exclusive. All of wave 1 of Aladdin will hit stores this December.

For those wondering about the Genie and Jafar as just an evil wizard, versions of those characters were released years ago in different waves – but don’t be surprised if they show up again in second Aladdin wave at some point. And maybe even Iago the parrot too. Someone out there likes that annoying character, right? You can check out all of Aladdin wave 1 down below in our gallery.

Are you excited to add “Prince Ali, fabulous He,” to your Pop!s collection? Let us know down below in the comments.
