One of the frustrations of Prometheus not being as popular in some quarters as was hoped involved NECA‘s toy offerings failing to all make it to retail. Dr. Shaw (Noomi Rapace), Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron), and Zombified Fifield (Sean Harris) were all prototyped and sculpted, but when sales of the initial waves of figures weren’t as strong as was hoped, a third series of holographic repaints of the Engineers was released, and the extra humans never saw the light of day. Over the years, NECA insisted they wouldn’t, either–that if indeed a Prometheus sequel were made (and it has been, though it has taken on the more branding-friendly franchise name of Alien: Covenant), it would be a whole new licensing deal and not cover the first film.
Turns out, not so much. Via Toyark, we’ve learned that the ladies and mutant will be hitting store shelves in spring. Confirmation that Rapace would be back as Shaw probably helped; Michael Fassbender, who is also returning, makes a cameo in the wave as a severed head accessory packaged with Shaw. If you’re a customizer who’s been waiting to make Lisbeth Salander or live-action Aeon Flux figures, your task just got easier. Toyark has some close-ups of the figures in all their gorgeous and gruesome glory. Sorry, but Idris Elba is not included.
You can expect figures from Alien: Covenant itself to follow, and with a teaser trailer expected fairly soon, we’ll all be able to make educated guesses. In the meantime, those of us who are Prometheus fans can finally complete the promised collection.
