AGENT CARTER Moves to Los Angeles for Season 2

We learned the happiest news last week: Agent Carter is coming back for Season 2. Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter will undoubtedly fight the forces of evil with whatever blunt object is at hand while being impeccably dressed because she is a queen. The end. I’m actually okay with just that sentence being the plot, but apparently networks like more of a plan. At Upfronts today, ABC revealed some exciting details about the upcoming season (though, if we’re being honest, I think most everything about Agent Carter is exciting).

First and foremost, Peggy’s leaving New York City behind and headed to Los Angeles. Will Jarvis go with her? What about Angie? Angie could find acting work in L.A., right? Here’s the official synopsis:

Marvel’s Agent Carter returns for a second season of adventure and intrigue, starring Hayley Atwell in the titular role of the unstoppable secret agent for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve). Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.

Huh. Note how Atwell is the only cast member listed? That makes me quite curious about whether any of the supporting cast from Season 1 will return. Peggy is undoubtedly the anchor of the series, but her relationships with Jarvis, Angie, and even Sousa added a lot to the picture. She can obviously form new friendships, but it’s a bold decision to leave established ones behind. On the other hand, keeping her on the move could be a tidy way to keep her double life secret from friends like Angie. The description also mentions the atomic age which follows World War II but could also extend beyond into the ’50s.

ABC also said Agent Carter will again air during Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s hiatus. They didn’t provide an exact episode count, but it will likely be in the neighborhood of eight like with Season 1. And frankly, I’m okay with that. The shorter run made for a tighter story, and I’m all about quality over quantity.

What do you think about Agent Carter leaving New York? Head to the comments and tell me what you hope to see in Season 2.
