Wait, what? Afroman is back with a remake of “Because I Got High” 14 years after the song sold 1.5 million million copies and garnered a Grammy nomination. Why? Because he got high, presumably.
Afroman has now teamed up with pro-legalization organizations NORML and Weedmaps as a spokesperson to try and gain favorable votes in Alaska, Oregon and Washington DC during the midterm elections. If anyone can do it, it is Afroman, who recently claimed that he is the “Michael Jordan marijuana.”
Watch below as Afroman strolls through the streets of Los Angeles on a mobile version of his couch as he lights up and rattles off a whole bunch of reasons why he thinks blowing on that Keyshia should be totally legal.
It is definitely worth noting that the original version of “Because I Got High” also describes various negative aspects of smoking all the time a/k/a the ridiculous line, “Now, I’m a quadriplegic and I know why / Because I got high.â But 2014 Afroman thinks that the positive outcomes certainly outweigh any negatives.
Were you expecting this Afroman comeback? We certainly were not, but we’re definitely pleasantly surprised by it. Let us know if you’re buying what Afroman is selling in the comments below and on Twitter!

great lyrics. Welcome back Afroman
Wonder if he’s like “Fuck the corporate world!” still?
Nope. He got paid by Weedmaps and Norml. Weedmaps is as corporate as any other tech company, as corrupt too. They could care less about true beneficial marijuana reform. They are all about money. They help pass (give money to) legislation that enables the monopoly control of dispensaries to half ass thugs. Marijuana is still a dirty game run by a bunch of gangsters. Weedmaps is a front to well-organized crime.
Please cite your sources when making outlandish claims like this.
Indeed. As Dr. Quinn stated, cite sources or forget about being taken seriously.
