Watch an Early Drawing from ADVENTURE TIME’s “Normal Man” (Exclusive)

“When bad things happen, I know you want to believe they are a joke, but sometimes life is scary and dark. That is why we must find the light.” – BMO

Adventure Time is ending its eight year run this Monday, September 3 when the series finale airs on Cartoon Network, but it won’t be hard for fans of the show to find the light in a scary and dark life without Jake and Finn. Because in addition to the final episode’s soundtrack from Mondo, viewers will also be able to bring home The Adventure Time: The Final Seasons DVD collection for seasons eight, nine, and ten, which will include bonus content to help ease the pain of leaving the Land of Ooo. And we have your early look at one of those extra features, which shows how strange the show is even with “normal” drawings.

This animatic (a rough animated rendering) clip comes from season eight’s “Normal Man,” which will be included on the Final Seasons home release. It shows Normal Man (formerly Magic Man) reaching the top of Wild Trap Mountain to confront Tiny Manticore, who double-crossed him by stealing Normal Man’s brother Glob from space. He’s joined by Finn and Jake who want to help, but things get worse after Finn is hit by a boomerang, causing Jake to go on the attack. (Try explaining how that all makes perfect sense to someone who has never seen the show.)

Okay, that might have slightly backfired, because now we already miss this strange, silly, wonderful show even more. But being able to re-watch it any time we want is still a pretty bright light in a scary and dark world.

The Adventure Time: The Final Seasons DVD collection will come in a collectible, one-of-a-kind die-cut slipcase, as with previously released seasons. This time Flame Princess is featured in the art. The collection will hit stores on September 4, and includes 53 episodes from the final three seasons, as well as a 44-minute special. It will also come with bonus extras, including an Adventure Time yearbook, animatics, song demos, and a character art gallery.
