Adrianne Palicki Is Your Mockingbird on AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

While we spend our time taking in the success of Guardians of the Galaxy and prepping for Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s easy to forget that giant blockbusters aren’t the only place Marvel’s currently prepping some sweetness. In a little over a month, on September 24, the second season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will kick-off, and because of that some new news has just been released that you’re definitely going to be interested in, mainly in regard to casting – which we all know Marvel does better than just about everyone else.

Back during Comic-Con, we learned the studio was planning on introducing our favorite superspy/West Coast Avenger, Mockingbird, into the series, and today, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we know who’s going to play her: none other than NBC’s former Wonder Woman, Adrianne Palicki. The report goes on to add that Palicki will make her first appearance in the fifth episode of the new season, with the possibility of returning (which she totally has to be), but perhaps not as an ally at first. Palicki joins an ever expanding roster of guest stars on the series that already includes Kyle MacLachlan, Lucy Lawless, Reed Diamond, Nick Blood, Henry Simmons and Simon Kassianides.

Beyond her appearance in the series, it’s currently unknown how far Marvel plans on taking the character, but since Palicki is the kind of actress that can work on both the big and small screen, we wouldn’t at all consider it out of the question that she could be seen at a future date, in a future film, with her comic book love interest, Hawkeye. Now that would be amazing! (As would seeing Hawkeye possibly appear on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

The news, however, doesn’t stop there as a new billboard has been popped up in Los Angeles that you guys need to have a look at:

Of course this ties into what we saw at the very end of last season with Coulson taking to the walls to write some mysterious alien stuff with his knife, most likely a side-effect of the serum used to save him. Is he going mad like Garrett? Is Clear Channel the new codename for Hydra? We’ll have to wait until season two to find out.

Don’t forget that alien writing was also seen on the chalkboard of that russian lab in the episode with the agent with the camera eye that Ward had to wear the goofy glasses to impersonate. And it was also tattooed on the body of the alien. 🙂
