Adam Savage Showed Off an Amazing MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO Costume at New York Comic Con

San Diego Comic-Con came and went months ago, and as he tends to do, Adam Savage made the floor his own with amazing costumes. This year, he walked around the place incognito as the bear from The Revenant and as Kylo Ren from Star Wars. Still, if there’s one thing we know about Savage, it’s that he loves cosplay so much he will seize any opportunity to show it off, which is why when attendees of New York Comic Con saw somebody walking around in an amazing My Neighbor Totoro costume, it was, of course, Savage donning another fantastic original creation of his.

He documented the process in a video for Tested, and revealed that this was actually his first NYCC, so of course, something had to go wrong. Not long before he wanted to strut his stuff, one of Totoro’s ears fell off the costume, so he had to think fast and fix with with the limited tools he had available… well, limited by his standards, since we don’t usually have a hot glue gun and copper piping with us when we’re traveling.

Regardless, that seemed to be about the only issue; the costume of course looked fantastic and as screen-accurate as something based on an animated character can get, and careful consideration was given to the functionality of the costume as well. What sets this apart from many of Savage’s other costumes is that in order for him to see, he needed a GoPro rigged up to a monitor inside the costume, and that also provides the benefit of some great first-person footage for the video.

Speaking of the video, check it out above, and keep an eye on Tested in the near future, as there will be a video breaking down the build process for this amazing cosplay up hopefully in the next few days.
