Adam Savage Discusses MYTHBUSTERS’ New Format on His Podcast

As you may recall, over the holidays we made a list of seven podcast you should check out while you took a little time off from reality. One of the entries on the list was a podcast from MythBusters co-host Adam Savage, titled Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project. Every week, Savage sits with Tested editors Norman Chan and Will Smith to break down the cool goings on of their maker lives. However, this week the conversation was mostly focused on the MythBusters’ change in format, and we thought it’d be something you fine folks would be keenly interested in checking out:

It’s often hard to forget that, though MythBusters is technically a reality show, there’s a lot of prep that goes into filming an episode of the Discovery channel series. Every shot must be meticulously planned like a feature film since the team often only has one attempt to get things exactly right – and that difficulty is only increased in magnitude when second, third, fourth and fifth cameras are thrown into the mix.

It’s illuminating to watch Savage dive deep into the nuts and bolts of why the series opted to shake things up, and it’s even cooler to know it all stemmed from a desire to make a singular fact clear: there are no teams. Adam and Jamie really do build everything seen on the show themselves.

MythBusters airs Saturdays at 9/8c on Discovery.
