Action Sci-Fi Thriller ANOMALY Stars Some Familiar Faces

Would you like to be able to take back your life in chunks of nine minutes and forty-seven seconds? Well, the evil organization taking over peoples lives in the action sci-fi thriller Anomaly—released last year in the UK—went and posed that question to the wrong guy. Starring Noel Clarke (Mickey from Doctor Who) proves you just don’t mess with someone who’s capable of being the Doctor’s companion.

Clarke stars as Pvt. Ryan Reeve, a former soldier who needs to piece together his life after becoming “Anomaly 66” as part of procedure involving mind-controlling nanotechnology. What looks to be a half Bourne Identity (for all the memory loss ass kicking) and half Minority Report (for all the future tech), this film shows promise. Along the way Reeve finds an ally in Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect, Project X) as he pieces together what’s happened while facing off what appear to be enemies in Brian Cox (X2: X-Men United and pretty much every movie in the last 30 years), Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries), and Luke Hemsworth (That family that produces perfect children).

What’s interesting is the Somerhalder and Hemsworth are listed in the cast as “anomalies” as well—so does that mean everyone is controlled by someone else and are these men’s minds not their own? One can hope that comes into play somewhere in the film as it’d be interesting to see if Clarke is #66 then that potentially means there’s dozens of mind controlled soldiers that all might be a bit more than pissed about living someone else’s life.

But we’ll have the chance to see, stateside at least, when it releases in theaters and Digital HD on September 25, with an On Demand, Blu-ray, and DVD slated for October 6.
